In recent years, as the international EU has completely restricted the production and use of solvent-based paints since April 1, 2005, solvent-based paint products have completely withdrawn from the European market. Moreover, with the driving force of China's industrial restructuring and economic transformation and upgrading, the new technologies, new processes and new products featuring green, low-carbon, energy-saving and environmental protection have been gradually promoted and applied. . Therefore, 200L steel drum packaging of new water-based paint without pollution, harmless, low energy consumption and low fire rating has emerged as the times require, and has been gradually promoted and applied.

Focusing on the development strategy of Sinopec Lubricating Oil Company (referred to as Lubricating Oil Company) in the future international market for lubricant packaging, under the unified deployment and guidance of the Lubricating Company Safety Production Department, the company has started to carry out water-based Experimental application study of paint 200L steel drum in lubricating oil packaging. As the person in charge of the project, I was fortunate to personally organize and implement the experimental application research of the water-based paint 200L steel drum in the lubricant packaging, and achieved the application results of the phased test. Now I will talk about my own understanding and experimental application of the characteristics of water-based paint steel drum, spraying process and spraying performance quality, phased results of water-based paint steel drum batch test and future development and application prospects.

First, the characteristics of water-based paint steel drum

The environmentally-friendly water-based paint for steel drums generally has two types of bright two-component and matte one-component. These two special environmentally friendly water-based paints are generally suitable for spraying or painting steel drums. The difference is that the two-component water-based paint must be thoroughly mixed before the spraying operation (according to 1:1). proportion). Moreover, the surface of the dried paint film is very bright and has a good decorative effect. For steel drum products or steel drums with no special requirements for surface decoration, one-component matt paint is usually preferred. The water-based paint of this type is relatively cheaper, and the spraying operation is more convenient than the bright paint. Environmentally friendly water-based paint uses clear water as a thinner in steel drum spraying operations. Compared with traditional paints, it saves a lot of solvent cost. At the same time, traditional tantalum paints generally use organic solvents containing toluene and xylene as diluents. It is characterized by toxic, volatile, flammable, high pollution, and is a serious potential occupational injury to the spraying operation and the surrounding areas of the workshop. Moreover, the water-based paint spraying and drying temperature is basically flat or even low compared with the traditional solvent-based paint, which has a strong advantage from the perspective of energy conservation.

Therefore, in general, compared with the traditional solvent-based paint steel drum, the use of environmentally friendly water-based paint steel drum has the following advantages:

(1) The VOC content is not more than 16 g / liter, non-toxic and tasteless, and environmentally friendly.

(2) The paint film is smooth and the color is full and gorgeous.

(3) Non-combustible, the fire rating is greatly reduced.

(4) It has excellent water resistance, good weather resistance and good UV resistance.

(5) Good compatibility with various lacquers, no chemical reaction, no penetration, no biting.

(6) Strong adhesion, firm after the conjunctiva is dry.

(7) Excellent hardness and strong impact resistance.

(8) The spraying area is large, the hiding power is strong, the drying time is fast, and the anti-staining property is good.

(9) The construction operation is simple, easy to recoat, economical and practical.

The traditional use of solvent-based paint has several major risks to the company's production and operation:

(1) Great pollution and high environmental risks;

(2) Inflammable and explosive, with high safety risks;

(3) It is toxic and harmful, and employees have high health risks.

In short, whether it is environmental protection, pollution reduction, resource conservation, energy, and cost reduction, water-based paint is the best choice compared to traditional solvent paint, so it will be an upgraded product of 200L steel drum paint. .

Second, the principle of water-based paint steel barrel spraying process

For steel drum enterprises, the application of traditional paint on the steel drum coating line has been very mature and complete, and the new water-based paint also uses the traditional high-pressure airless spray or manual spray method, just with the use of traditional paint in the spraying process. The aspects are different in the following ways:

1, the diluent is different

Waterborne paints use water as a diluent. Civilian tap water, clean natural water with conductivity less than 500 (measured by conductivity meter) meets the requirements. Replace the harmful organic solvents in traditional solvent-based paints with water.

2, the dilution ratio and spray viscosity are different

Dilution ratio: water-based paint original paint: water = 100: 15 ~ 25

Spray viscosity: the barrel is sprayed with a suitable viscosity (4 cups) for 40 to 50 seconds; the bottom of the barrel and the lid are sprayed with a suitable viscosity (4 cups) for 20 to 25 seconds, which is slightly higher than the solvent-based paint spray viscosity (25 to 40 seconds).

3, the spraying pressure is slightly higher than the paint

The surface tension (physical force) of water-based paint is larger than that of the same paint, so the spray viscosity is slightly higher and the spray pressure is slightly higher than the paint.

The production experience parameters are spray pressure of 0.3 to 0.4 MPa.

4. Quality of the substrate before spraying

Before the water-based paint is sprayed, the outer surface of the 200 steel drum is required to be high. It requires no water, no oil, no rust and no impurities. The cleaning and phosphating pretreatment process should be used as much as possible. The traditional solvent-based paint spraying process is not particularly demanding on the outer surface of the 200L steel drum, and it is only required to be water-free, oil-free, rust-free and free of impurities.

Third, the practical application of water-based paint in the coating process of lubricating oil 200 steel drum

The company uses water-based paint to spray 200 steel drums and still uses the original traditional solvent-based paint spraying device - the US Nordson high-pressure spraying system, but has improved the quality control of water-based paint raw materials, spraying process and various process parameters. optimization.

1. Quality of water-based paint raw materials

The company's 200 steel drums are sprayed with special water supply paint materials from Shijiazhuang Paint Factory in Hebei Province. Through trial and error and formula optimization design, both parties will form a technical agreement standard Q /01YQ242-2011, and complete the acceptance of each batch of water-based paint raw materials according to their standard requirements.

2. Quality control of water-based paint coating process

Through extensive trial and error of water-based paint test team members and suppliers, and through the use of orthogonal test design ideas, the company continuously improved the original spray process route, adjusted and optimized various process parameters in the spraying process, so that the 200L steel drum water-based paint spraying effect continued. Improvement, the company's 200L monochrome and two-color water-based paint steel drums have been successfully batched off the assembly line, and a complete set of water-based paint spraying process experience has been extracted from the curing.

At present, the company has used the original spraying device system in the past two years, and carefully planned the test plan by the project team members, and continuously optimized the water-based paint formula with the water-based paint supplier, innovatively improved the spray process route design, and continuously optimized the water-based paint spray. The process parameters made the water-based paint 200L monochrome and two-color steel drums successfully realized batch production in batches, and passed the safety management PPAP approval of the lubricant company. After the subsequent process of canning, fixed-point delivery and follow-up follow-up visits, the customer is very satisfied with the appearance quality of the new green packaging 200L water-based paint lubricant products. The successful launch of the company's water-based paint 200 liter steel drum packaging has made a useful exploration and attempt for the lubricant company to implement green packaging products in the future and to implement the green low-carbon development strategy.

Conclusion: Water bath environmentally friendly paint alternative test can meet the performance requirements of steel drum spraying process, neither pollute the environment nor harm human health, and fundamentally eliminate the risk of occupational health, environmental and process safety of volatile organic diluents. . At the same time, water-based paints do not have environmentally-friendly discharge pressure, reduce waste disposal costs, and also avoid potential fire hazards such as potential fires during spray drying.
