The draft circular economy law promulgated legislation to limit excessive packaging

The draft circular economy law that was submitted to the 29th meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for the first time on August 26 suggested that China needs to pass legislation to limit excessive packaging.

The draft pointed out that "excessive packaging" and "luxury packaging" not only cause waste of resources, but also pollute the environment. This phenomenon will be limited by legislation in the future. The draft circular economy law stipulates that when designing product packaging, units and individuals must implement product packaging standards to prevent excessive packaging from causing waste of resources and environmental pollution. The product packaging standards shall be formulated by the department of standardization under the State Council in conjunction with relevant departments.
