The first 100-ton polyphenylene sulfide industrial test facility built in China using self-developed technology has recently completed industrial scale-up experiments. Experts believe that this shows that China has mastered the industrialized production technology of polyphenylene sulfide and is expected to build a large-scale production facility in a short time.
Polyphenylene sulfide is a new type of special engineering plastics. Compared with common engineering plastics, it has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, radiation resistance, and good toughness. It is widely used in the modern industry in areas such as electronics, electrical appliances, aerospace, and petrochemicals. Due to its complicated process and technical difficulties, only the United States, Japan and other countries have achieved industrial production.
This industrial scale-up experiment was completed by the cooperation unit of Chengdu Shuguang Electronic Chemistry High-tech Research Institute. According to reports, this experiment has made important progress in three aspects: First, the quasi-homogeneous polycondensation polymerization method using a full solution method is used to prepare the production process; second, different molecular weights can be produced by artificially controlling the molecular weight of polyphenylene sulfide in production. Strength, different toughness of the product; third, the product has a melting point of 297 degrees Celsius.
It is understood that the Dawning Institute plans to cooperate with related companies to build a polyphenylene sulfide production plant of 10,000 tons or even larger scale in the near future.
