There is valuable material energy in packaging waste

The waste of resources and the pressure on the environment caused by excessive packaging of goods and non-recycled packaging materials have become a problem that plagues scientists.

An environmental expert has done a test: Ask four British households to save the packaging of discarded goods within a month, and analyze these “beautiful rubbish”. The results of the test are surprising: The total amount of visible product packaging waste accumulated by the four families in a month is 103.97kg. If these wastes are converted into energy, a 60w bulb can be used to continuously emit 3516 days.

In the garbage collected by four households, people's visible waste is removed, and there are some invisible energy wastes, called "intangible waste." Take an aluminum can packaging for example, ecoanalysts must also consider the production of aluminum cans, including the energy needed to extract aluminum, and this is the "invisible waste weight."

It can be seen that paying attention to and doing a good job in the recycling and utilization of packaging waste is of far-reaching significance to the full use of the limited resources on the globe.
