1. The arrangement of the pages before entering the machine is very important

In the binding process of books and periodicals, especially in the production of glue binding linkage lines, book pages are the main raw materials for input machines. The quality of its folding quality and the correct storage method will directly affect the operation quality of the whole machine and affect the performance of the overall benefit. According to our field survey of more than a dozen binding lines of binding: the failure of the binding machine is more than 60% caused by irregular pages, even if the linkage line equipped with a waste device will not stop, it will also be Neutral operation reduces production efficiency. Therefore, in order to make full use of the equipment imported with several million yuan, it is necessary to minimize the occurrence of the phenomenon of downtime and neutral operation, and ensure the balanced and stable operation of each station of the entire line. According to this, we must insist on the handling of book pages: 1. The cuts of the book pages fully exclude the air inside the book pages, and then they are firmly tied with a hard wood board, and the flat stacking keeps the flat clothes of the book pages. 2. Try to avoid the appearance of thin pages. It is true that the double pages that are unavoidable due to printing restrictions should be dealt with in a nested manner. When there are illustrations or single pages, they should be pasted on the adjacent pages and then bundled. This seems to increase the workload, but it is economical in terms of mechanical support efficiency (especially the binding line), and the page error rate of books and magazines has also been greatly reduced. Because we insist on treating the pages before entering the machine strictly according to the set process. The quality and efficiency of bound products have been significantly improved. For example, a recently processed 16-by-8-print "Geography of Junior High School", which runs at a speed of 6000 volumes per hour and averages more than 1.5 hours. Each station has no faults, no downtime and idle operation, which makes the entire line The operation has reached a better level of the same grade glue binding line.

Second, the temperature of the book pages must be adapted in winter

Printing companies of average size are used to store the folded pages in the warehouse or outdoors without heating due to the limitation of book production cycle and workshop area. This storage method has no obvious effect on the binding effect of bound books in spring, summer, and autumn. If the pages stored in the warehouse or outdoors for many days in the cold winter are immediately glued, it will seriously affect the bonding strength. , Or even cause loose pages. This is because the surface temperature of the glue drops instantaneously after the glue liquid comes into contact with the frozen pages, and solidifies quickly. It is difficult to infiltrate the pages of the book, which significantly reduces the bonding effect. Therefore, when processing hot-melt glued booklets in the cold season, the pages must be stored at the same temperature as the environment temperature of the gluer for more than 24 hours and subjected to aging treatment to ensure the inherent quality of the glued booklets.

3. More attention should be paid to milling back and slotting

In recent years, rotary machines and folding machines have been widely used in printing. Binding production improves the folding quality. The short phenomenon of partial manual folding has caused the general attention of processing units, and the problem of milling of loose pages has been better solved. Out of an "old bookbinding" professional habit, the author once observed and browsed 60 books of different thicknesses and different formats in Xidan Book City in Beijing, and used the empirical method of monitoring the quality of books in the factory to read the quality of bound books. None of the 60 books has loose pages due to back milling. All books with flat backs and flat pulls with a certain amount of tension without creases on the backs of the book are well grooved. It is obvious that they are processed with a linkage with better performance. The back layer of this book has a high strength even if it is within 0.6mm. With a large force, the back of the book can still be restored to its original shape. On the contrary, for a book that has not been grooved, even if the glue layer is more than 1mm, if you turn it a little harder, you can see the paper section and glue layer behind the milling, and the crease appears on the back of the book. Such a book is generally caused by the use of a slotting mechanism on the small disc machine and the automatic line machine, which is a quality defect. Over the past few years, we have taken the slotting quality of the pages on the back of the milling as the main monitoring point for control and transformation, which has solved some of the imperfect mechanical structure of the station and made the operation of the slotting station more stable and more reasonable. For example, the introduction of the Warrenberg glue binding linkage line. The original machine behind the slotting knife is designed with a soft material. Although it can avoid damage to the slotting knife due to improper operation, it is not very durable. Generally, it needs to be adjusted once every two hours or more than ten minutes per shutdown. In addition, because the backboard is soft and wears quickly, the depth of the book slot before and after the backboard adjustment and installation are different, and the opening is different. To ensure more consistent slotting, frequent adjustment and replacement of the backing plate is required, which increases the downtime and severely restricts the play of mechanical efficiency. After analysis and research, we have changed the slotted backboard to cemented carbide material. After precise adjustment, the slotting depth can be accurately controlled at about 1.2mm, and it will not be replaced for long-term use. An alloy backrest plate that we installed and used on October 4, 1999 was produced at 6000 copies per hour in two shifts per day. It is still in normal use and has received excellent results. The slotting knife of the disc binding machine is on the same cutter as the milling cutter. Although it is difficult to adjust the uniform and ordered groove due to the limitation of the mechanical structure, as long as the correct adjustment is carried out carefully and carefully, the machine is maintained. The speed of balanced operation can also open a more ideal groove shape to produce books and periodicals of qualified quality. In short, no matter which model is used to produce the bound book, the correct processing of the slot directly affects the quality of the book and periodicals, which is one of the important links in the perfect binding process.

Fourth, the correct use of different positions of the glue wheel

For a book with beautiful appearance and reliable quality, in the production process, the correct adjustment of the two glue wheels before and after can not be ignored. Various types of glue binding machines are equipped with at least one group of glue furnaces, and each group of glue furnaces has two glue wheels to run the book. We adjust and use the two rubber wheels in this way: adjust the first rubber wheel to make a slight contact with the book after slotting, so that the glue will be poured into the book slot with a large squeezing force, so that the The glue groove is filled, but the back of the book cannot be squeezed and deformed. The relative gap between the second rubber wheel and the book should be adjusted according to the thickness of the book, and the paper should be adjusted according to the ideal thickness of the glue layer, so as not to squeeze the glue to both sides when supporting. In this way, we adjust the front and rear rubber wheels and produce various books and periodicals. The thickness of the notch and the thickness of the back of the book are basically the same, ensuring the smooth and beautiful appearance of the bound book.

Five, correct choice, use hot melt adhesive

Last winter, when we cleaned the hot-melt adhesive that melted outside, we found that the used hot-melt adhesive was very brittle after freezing. Immediately for various price points in the factory, five brands of hot-melt adhesive were made into film in the refrigerator Conduct a simple freezing test within. The results of the test are: only two of them did not break brittlely after being frozen at minus 2 ° C for 4 hours. When we inquired about this indicator from a larger rubber factory, the other party did not have this test. It is hard to imagine that a book made with this kind of glue will not loose pages in the cold winter, at least there is no guarantee that the pages will not be scattered. Our factory is located in North China. At least one hundred days of weather is below zero during the year. Most of the users of our books are also in this area. Especially for textbook readers, most of them are rural students, and their reading environment temperature in winter is below zero. According to this, we must strictly inspect each brand and batch of hot-melt adhesives entering the factory, and only adhesives that pass each index can enter the workshop. In this way, the quality of the bound product is ensured. The indicators we control mainly include the following:

(1) Low temperature resistance. We have designed a temperature-controlled freezer by ourselves, the temperature control error is +/- 1 ℃, and the temperature measurement range is -10-10 ℃. The hot-melt adhesive is made into a certain adhesive strip, placed in the bending rack of the freezer, and after a constant temperature of 30 minutes at the specified temperature, the bending experiment is carried out. Qualified products do not break at -1 ℃. At present, we are working on the design of an automatically controlled low-temperature resistance tester to make the measurement results more objective and scientific.

(2) Fatigue strength. This is an indicator for detecting the number of times the adhesive layer is resistant to bending, and it can ensure that the book will remain intact even after repeated reading. First, the hot-melt adhesive is made into rubber strips according to the regulations, and then tested on the fatigue strength tester (self-made) at the prescribed temperature.

(3) Specific gravity. We have found through comparison experiments that adhesives with a specific gravity greater than 1 have a lower overall performance than hot-melt adhesives with a specific gravity less than 1. In addition, the greater the specific gravity of the hot-melt adhesive, the greater the weight of the single-use adhesive when the adhesive layer is the same, which will significantly increase the production cost. The specific gravity can be determined according to the relevant adhesive measurement method. In practice, we often use the "water float" method for qualitative determination: glue with a specific gravity greater than 1 will sink into the bottom of the water, and glue with a specific gravity less than 1 will float on the water surface. Although this method is simple, it is fast and effective.
