Latex resin ink technology latest progress

It has been 5 years since HP first introduced the Latex resin inkjet printer system. Latex can replace solvent-based inks and UV-curable inks for outdoor durable advertising printing. In addition to Hewlett-Packard, several companies have announced the introduction of resin-based ink and printing systems. This article mainly discusses the resin ink technology, the application of resin ink and its advantages over solvent-based and UV technology.

HP Latex3000 inkjet printer

In order to improve the performance of printers and inks, Hewlett-Packard Company announced the launch of the third-generation Latex technology with a major breakthrough. The second-generation Latex technology improves the density and durability of black ink, making its performance comparable to ordinary environmentally friendly solvents or weak solvent inks. However, compared with UV-curable inks and strong solvent inks, especially when printing vinyl materials, the printing effect is obviously insufficient.

The new Latex3000 system represents the future direction of HP Latex printing systems. This is a brand new system and is not compatible with the current HP Latex printing system. This system solves the shortcomings of the previous system, can achieve higher printing speed, lower curing temperature and scratch resistance on vinyl materials and strong solvent ink or UV curing ink.

The new HP Latex3000 printer with a width of 126 inches is faster than the previous Latex. It uses a wider 8.4-inch scanning print head and the ink is HP 881Latex ink (CMYK, Lc, Lm). In addition, a 4.2-inch wide print head can also be selected. A special "Optimizer" fluid can be printed before ink printing to control the fluidity of the ink on the printing medium. "Optimizer" can add pigment particles, Latex particles and additives to improve the durability of the ink. This will increase the printer's printing speed, and at the same time reduce the temperature of the printer's printing area and curing area.

Compared with the previous HP Latex printer, the temperature of the printing medium is reduced by 20-30F, and the printing speed is increased to 830 square feet / hour (indoor high-quality mode, 6 colors, 6 prints), or 1290 square feet / hour (outdoor mode, 4 colors, 4 prints). The lower temperature can ensure the use of heat-sensitive media. The heat-sensitive materials may not withstand the high temperatures of the first and second generation inks during curing and drying. In addition to higher printing speeds and lower curing temperatures, the new ink has a wider color gamut than the solvent-based inks used in HP Scitex printers and UV-curable inks. The new printer and ink system provide a true perfect solution for direct vinyl printing for outdoor durability.

Mimaki Introduces New Latex Ink

Mimaki Engineering launched the JV400-130 / 160Latex printer in the fall of 2012. This is the first Latex printing system with orange, green and white ink. In 2013, Mimaki introduced a new set of Latex inks (Mimaki LX101 series), which improved ink gloss and black ink density.

The JV400 printer uses MimakiCirculationTechnology (MCT) technology, and the white ink is supplied with a circulation method to reduce the precipitation of thicker white ink pigment particles. It is hoped that the improvement in ink performance will drive the sales growth of the printer.

MeijetLatex printer

Shanghai printer and ink manufacturer Meijet Digital Technology launched a prototype Latex printer in 2010, and in 2012 the company also launched the first Latex Resin inkjet printer. At present, Meijet has a total of 4 printers with different widths, namely 48 inches, 64 inches, 100 inches and 128 inches. The US market does not know much about the performance of this printer, but Meijet intends to establish a US sales center. As Latex ink technology becomes more popular, more companies will enter the market in the future.

Third-party Latex ink

Singapore ink manufacturer SamInk has launched ink products for HP Latex printers. The FLAARReports website already has free reports about the company. It is unclear whether many Latex ink users will try third-party inks, but as printer speeds increase and ink consumption increases, the cost savings of using third-party inks will be more attractive to users.

Florida ink manufacturer STS launched the so-called "plug and play" compatible Latex ink solution at the European FESPA show in 2013, mainly for HP DesignJet25500 printers. This is a new product, so we need to continue to pay attention to the subsequent development.

to sum up

So far, HP Latex printers have installed more than 15,000 units worldwide. With the introduction of higher-efficiency HP Latex3000 printers, the prospect of resin ink is bright. Better color performance, higher gloss, better scratch resistance, no harmful solvents or UV chemicals, so the development of technology will definitely be smooth.

Animal Model

In recent years, the company has invested in the development of medical first aid, diagnosis, nursing, maternity and children, pediatrics, anatomy, traditional Chinese medicine, stomatology and other skills training experimental system model. in the spirit of innovation, our company constantly in-depth understanding of user needs, to improve old products, new products will be introduced to the market.
