Colorful glare box won the Golden Point rookie best design award

The visual communication department of the Taiwan University of the Arts, Liao Liya, Lin Shixuan, Yan Yi, and Li Xiaoxuan gave a new meaning to the box. Various colorful balls were packaged with colorful glare paper and special cassettes. The users beat and kicked. The way to open the carton, which combines sports and entertainment features, was named "BAM". This won the 2017 Golden Dot Rookie of the Year Award for Best Packaging Design and the judging team rated it "with innovation and experimental spirit. The positioning of sales groups is clear and people fully feel their design spirit."

Liao Liya stated that the word “BAM” was used as a vocabulary word when using this product. This was the first interactive, entertaining and environmentally friendly feature. “We observed that general ball boxes often go home and be thrown away. It's a pity that if we can use ideas to make the process of dismantling boxes become part of the sport, then the sport will be more interesting and these cartons will also have the greatest effect."

Lin Shiyi said that in order to develop a carton that can be smoothly dispersed in the air and then reconstituted with special cassettes, the team started working in July last year and spent nearly a year brewing before successfully designing 10 different types of cartons. Cards can be used to pack badminton, volleyball, and football balls of different sizes.

Liao Liya said that the ball contained in "BAM" was dispersed in the air following the centrifugal force and speed sense following the action thrown by the user. "The beauty is like a firework, and if the ball is not filled, the interior is added." The light bulb becomes a lampshade, or adding a bottle becomes a vase, which is very practical and does not waste packaging paper."

The review team made a comprehensive review of “BAM”. This is an innovative experimental spirit with a high degree of completeness. “Especially on the site, the intentions of the exhibition are very bright and it has even reached the industry standard.”
