"Hong Kong Toy Legend" exhibition reproduces childhood memories

Hong Kong Museum of History, Hong Kong Toys Council and the Hong Kong toy factory Chamber of Commerce jointly organized the "Hong Kong toy Legend" exhibition May 15 to carry out by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department today (March 2). Through more than 2,600 pieces of toys spanning multiple generations, the event led the audience through the "Toy Time Tunnel" to regain childlike interest and explore the centuries-old transformation of toys. The exhibition is one of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

2,600 toys are dazzling

The exhibition was very dedicated. The museum's doorway displayed a row of "Star Wars" storm soldiers model and a large device of the Thomas train. The original museum lobby was transformed into a "play area" filled with nostalgic toys and games. It is mainly composed of four parts: “from the past to the future”, “to create a toy kingdom”, “toy fashion” and “new generation of toys”.

From the past to the future, a total of fifteen sets of classic toys including paper toys, metal toys, plastic toys, dolls and dolls, money and toys, toy trains, and more than 80 years of history have been exhibited. , red and white two-color watermelon wave, a variety of doll paper and flash card. In addition to the fun, the toys on display also recorded changes in the design and function of the same toy, reflecting the social environment and market demand at that time, and causing the audience to think.

Zhang Ruisen, director of the Hong Kong Museum of History, explained: “In order to attract children to open accounts, the bank uses interesting design to turn money into toys and play.” The broccoli dolls that caused the American people to snap up “adoption” in the 1980s also exhibited. The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Su Jinliang, said at the opening ceremony yesterday afternoon: "Hong Kong toys are not only the 'legendary' in the eyes of users, but also the 'legendary' of Hong Kong's economic development. Hong Kong is now the world's second largest toy exporting region. It has contributed a lot to the economy of Hong Kong."
