"Green Packaging" Will Lead the New Trend of Packaging Industry in China

"Green packaging" refers to packaging that is harmless to the ecological environment and human health, can be reused, reused and recycled, and can promote sustainable development. Therefore, the developed countries in the world have determined that the packaging should meet the “4R+1D” principle, namely low consumption, development of new green materials, reuse, recycling and degradability. In the next 10 years, "green products" will dominate the world market. There is no doubt that "green products" need "green packaging."

At present, China's packaging industry research and development of "green packaging" should strengthen the following aspects of the work:

The first is to accelerate technological innovation and develop new packaging materials, new processes and new products. This is also the key to the development of "green packaging." For example, grain is nowadays packed in plastic woven bags, which is a polymer material with high strength, low cost, and corrosion resistance. However, it contains a small amount of additives that are harmful to the human body. Raw corn such as packaged corn is still acceptable, while rice is packaged. The direct entrance of food such as flour is worrying. Moreover, plastic woven bags are poor in breathability, and food is easily degraded. It is not suitable for long-term storage. In addition, it is also a one-time use, which increases waste and pollutes the environment. Therefore, grain packaging must develop more scientific new packaging materials instead of plastic woven bags.

The second is to research and develop a variety of "green packaging." When it comes to "green packaging," manufacturers tend to place emphasis on easy-to-handle paper materials in the orientation of their materials, but in fact they look at the entire production process. Paper packaging does not mean “green packaging” in the full sense, because the paper industry is heavier to the environment, and although paper can be recycled, the recycled paper produced each time will reduce the quality level of paper. It is in this respect. Performance is not as complete as aluminum foil. The widely used plastics, whose packaging function can not be replaced by other materials, as long as the technical difficulties overcome non-degradable, may be able to become the most important green material in the new century. Therefore, "green packaging" refers not only to paper but also to degradable plastic and aluminum packaging.

Third, we must strictly abide by international practice, establish and improve China's environmental labeling system, and carry out certification work at a high starting point. Many developed countries have taken active measures in terms of environmentally friendly packaging, such as legislation requiring that beer, soft drinks, and mineral water must use reusable containers; and formulating laws for compulsory packaging recycling or use. In 1998, China promulgated the Provisional Administrative Measures for the Recycling of Packaging Resources, which stipulated the disposal of waste, but it was not enough to narrow the gap with international social standards.
