Graphic Packaging Introduces New Microwave Packaging Materials

According to the China Packaging Network, an American seafood processor will release a new type of frozen fish ready-to-eat meal at the end of the year. The food is packaged in a microwave oven material developed by the US packager Graphic Packaging to prevent food scorching. A British seafood supplier tested the new package and will release the new product packaged fish product within 6 months. The company’s specific name was not disclosed.

This type of microwave oven material uses a protective technique to transfer heat to various parts of the package so that the food can be heated more evenly and the edges of the food are not scorched.

According to Graphic Packaging, several pie, lasagna, and pasta manufacturers will also release products packaged using this technology in 2006.

This packaging was originally developed in response to the requirements of a Raw seafood product in the United States. Raw seafood products began to be launched three months ago with frozen fish-vegetables packaged in this special microwave oven material.

Eric Metcalf, marketing manager at Graphic Packaging, said that in the next few months, a second seafood company will also apply this technology.

Metcalf revealed that the supply of seafood products will be implemented first in the region and then throughout the country, and will be estimated at 500,000 units per year in the region.

The packaging material is composite laminate aluminum and polyester on the basis of cardboard. Then a gravure roll and a protective pattern on the aluminum, this pattern can conduct heat in the packaging tray to ensure that all parts of the food are evenly heated at the same time.
