X-Rite Provides Solutions for Color Matching and Print Color Matching Problems with Fluorescent Whitening Agents

i1iSis Introduces Industry's First Fluorescent Brightener Calibration Module to Help Align Fluorescent Brighteners with Color Shifts Caused by Proofing, Printing, and Art Paper

The world leader in color technology, X-Rite (Booth No. 5 Hall D02 Stand) Ltd. (XRIT), announced the industry's first complete optical brightener calibration solution (OBC). X-Rite's new OBC solution, designed for use with the X-Rite i1iSis Automatic Color Meter Series and ProfileMaker or MonacoPROFILER Color Configuration Software, allows users to have a color-critical proofing and printing environment , Effectively and accurately compensates for color shifts in custom ICC output profiles caused by optical brighteners (OBAs) on paper and other printed materials.

Fluorescent brighteners (OBAs) are being used by more and more paper mills and major inkjet paper manufacturers to make the yellowish paper brighter and brighter. However, the existing color measurement and management techniques cannot effectively solve the color changes caused by OBAs. With X-Rite's optical brightener calibration solution, users can achieve equivalent visual effects between the color measurements obtained from the instrument and the visual appearance of the proofs in the observation light box.

X-Rite Fluorescent Whitener Calibration Solution is ready for use and will be available as standard on every i1iSis device. The new discounted price package includes i1iSis or i1iSisXL (with UV LEDs), a new fluorescent brightener compensation module, and ProfileMaker5, Publish or MonacoPROFILER Gold optional configuration software. Existing O1iSis and ProfileMaker 5 users are eligible for the OBC upgrade kit.

This new product package provides a complete solution for high-end applications requiring consistent color measurement and print visual effects, as well as prepress (printing), print, and photo (photo studio printing and art print) markets.

“Our OBC can address the latest challenges in the proofing area. The combination of the new OBC module and i1iSis' unique spectral measurement technology and additional UV LED lighting capabilities allows users to capture the complete spectral data of their own charts. Thankfully With our patent-pending detection and calibration technology, users can effectively and accurately compensate for the color shift caused by whitening agents while taking full advantage of the higher whiteness and intensity provided by the substances containing OBAs. "The contrast of the image," explains Obias Rausch, product manager of X-Rite Prepress and Printing Solutions.

With the new i1iSis OBC product package, printing experts can solve the OBA-related proofing challenges they face in just a few steps: print a test chart and use i1iSis in dual mode (measure cycle in one test chart Measurements including UV and UV exclusion measurements are performed and then analyzed by the OBC Solution Software; a UVChecker Greypatch chart is then printed and visually compared to the Reference Standard for Fluorescent Brighteners in the observation box. The most matching patches are marked in the OBC software to calculate a new set of optical brightener compensation measurements; finally, the new data is exported to ProfileMaker 5 or MonacoPROFILER software to generate a new and accurate ICC configuration file.

X-Rite and its extensive global network of authorized dealers will provide IntelliTrax version 1.5 in the third quarter of 2008.
